Who is Like God?
November 2019, Gibson Chase-Pinkney

(Verse 1)
Who is like god, That treads on the sod
And pushes the plow like a serf
How do you know The seeds that you grow
As you scratch for a place in the earth

(Counterverse 1)
The cards that he grips, with a smile on his lips
And you ponder your ponderous plays
Games won one by one, until evening has come
There’s no time, as you heard the man say

(Verse 2)
Who is like god, That worries and plods
But ahead he must pull through the dark
For others need help, And he still has his health
And at times life still feels like a lark

(Counterverse 2)
And you watch his hands stretch, halfway down the neck
And he strums, as you wonder and hear
Each note meet the next, as pulled from a fret
Tied to a heartbeat and played just as clear

And

(Verse 3)
Who is like god, That smiles and nods
As his friends gather round him and say
You bind us like glue, and we wish that you
Could come back to talk with us every day

(Omniverse 1)
Pupils and peers gather to hear
As he speaks to the crowd, from his chair
Scruples held dear can conquer your fear
Music is needed, as much as air

And

(Verse 4)
Who is like god, Or a bean in your pod
That listens, and knows that you care
He wonders how you Write the words that you do
But you both know who helped you prepare

AND

(Verse 1)
Who is like god, That treads on the sod
And pushes the plow like a serf
How do you know The seeds that you grow
As you scratch for a place in the earth
